The lodge faces west across Eastsound towards the Gulf Islands, which is the correct direction for this sort of thing. The water, the islands behind it and the light going down over all of it is the whole reason the decks are where they are.
Summer sunsets up here run late, properly late, so dinner tends to get eaten in stages while people wander outside and come back. Nobody has ever complained about this.
